About the band:
Our main influence is our namesake…the great Belgian/French Gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt, who together with Stephane Grappeli formed the famous “Hot club of France” in 1934, and based on their collaborations and the Gypsy guitar styling’s of Django, a whole new style of Jazz was developed….called Le jazz hot .
Django Reinhardt has astounded and thrilled numerous generations of guitar players and jazz lovers with his amazing command of the guitar and his influence is evident even today.
This music has an infectious driving rhythm and incorporates most of the standard pop and jazz tunes of the 20′s, 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s …. As well as many modern day compositions. The Djangophiles, in keeping with the tradition of the music use acoustic instruments, and sound reinforcement only when necessary….The result is a comfortable listening level that is never too loud or intrusive.
The Djangophiles perform as a revolving ensemble …… Duo to quintet.
